Andrea
Kane
Andrea has been a part of the Centre Stage family since we opened our doors in 2004. She brings over 12 years of teaching experience and 24 years of dance experience to Centre Stage. Over her time at dance, she has taken several Al Gilbert and BATD tap and jazz exams and participated in many workshops.
Andrea’s passion lies in teaching those who are studying to become our next teachers. When not at dance, or her full time career at Scotiabank, Andrea can be found spending time with the three most important people in her life, her husband Aidan, and children Julia and Ethan.
Susan
May
Susan has been with Centre Stage since its inception in 2004, both as an owner and instructor. She brings with her over 25 years of dance experience, and over 15 years of teaching experience. She has traveled to many competitions and workshops both as a competitor and instructor. She has trained under the syllabus of both Al Gilbert in tap and jazz and The British Association of Teachers of Dance, receiving her associate membership in 1995.
Susan most enjoys teaching/training other students who are on the pathway to becoming instructors themselves someday. When not at the studio she can be found at home with the three most important people in her life, her son Eric, daughter Emily and husband Dennis.
Liana
Long
Liana is excited to be a part of keeping the dream alive at Centre Stage. She brings with her, over 30 years as a dancer, during which time, she performed in the Canada Games, the Tattoo, and the Royal Visit of Prince Andrew. In addition, she has taken exams in tap and jazz from Al Gilbert, as well as Associate for BATD. As a teacher for more than 20 years, she has attended numerous workshops and competitions all over the Maritimes and the US, and her troupe was three time winner of the coveted BATD Rosebowl in Halifax.
All this, and Liana still manages to juggle her career as a nurse with her love of dance, and bring an equal amount of enthusiasm and professionalism to each.
Lindsay MacAllister
Lindsay has been dancing for 22 years. Over this time she has taken exams in Tap, Jazz and Ballet in both BATD and Al Gilbert syllabus.
Competing in competitions and performing in general was Lindsay's passion. These days the focus has changed to the next generation of dance. Her goal is to ensure she is inspiring her dancers to continue to train and learn. "It is a never ending path of learning, once the learning is done what else is there to do. Keep it fresh, keep it exciting and love what your doing. That is what we all want to see from our Centre Stage family".
Melissa
Wright
Melissa began dancing at age 3 with Susan Arseneault’s International school of dance in St. George, NB. Melissa has studied tap, jazz, lyrical, step dance and Riverdance (Irish step) and has attended numerous dance workshops. Melissa began assisting with classes at the age of 13 and has been teaching dance for the last 10 years. Melissa has always had a passion for dance and last year began studying ballet at Rothesay Ballet School.
Dance is a way to communicate between your body and soul and express what is too deep to express in words. It also allows her to be a storyteller and connect with an audience. Melissa is married to her husband Greg and has a dog named Huggie. She also enjoys scrapbooking, reading, shopping, curling and playing piano. Melissa currently teaches grade 9, 10 and 11 mathematics at Kennebecasis Valley High School.
Kate
McCluskey
Kate has been dancing for 13 years. This is her third year teaching at Centre Stage and her first year for teaching private lessons. During her 13 years of dance she has competed in troupe for six years and solo routines for five years. Her favorite style of dancing is Tap.
Kate loves dancing because she gets to live a life outside of school and work and just be free. It’s fun to get together with friends at Centre Stage and dance the night away! Outside of dance she is currently a full-time student at UNBSJ in the Arts/Education program majoring in math. She also works part-time at Scotiabank in Grand-Bay. She is very proud to be a part of the Centre Stage family!
Mary-Ann
Masson
Mary-Ann has been dancing for over 25 years, including 11 years of teaching. In addition to teaching tap, jazz and lyrical classes, she has taught several private lessons in both solo and duo competition categories. Mary-Ann has completed BATD and Al Gilbert examinations.
Mary-Ann enjoys the opportunity to get involved with the community and has always loved meeting new people and sharing the stage with friends. Outside of dance, Mary-Ann enjoys spending time with her family, especially her husband Paul and her daughter Brooke. She has received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UNBSJ majoring in child psychology, and currently works with children with autism.
Joscelyne
Wallace
Joscelyne is a second year student at UNBSJ enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science program. She has been dancing since she was eight years old. She has taken on a teaching position, teaching group and solo routines for children aged 11-14 years.
Throughout her 11 years of dancing, Joscelyne has been a member of troupe for nine years, competing at several local and regional competitions. She has also competed duo and solo routines, receiving highest mark tap duo two consecutive years. She has also trained under the Al Gilbert tap syllabus. She has participated in Alice In Wonderland and Mid Summers Night Dream with the Toronto Dance Company Motus-O at the Imperial Theatre.
Fantasha
Hoyt
Fantasha has been dancing for 15 years, and has been part of troupe for nine years. This is her second year of teaching hip hop to children between the ages of 10-14. Fantasha has been on two summer dance tours to Hollywood and this past summer in New York. She enjoys getting to know her students and to have fun!!
Charlotte
Bursey
Charlotte is a grade 12 student at Saint John High School. Of Charlotte’s 12 years in dance, she has spent 9 of those in troupe competing in several Maritime dance competitions, completing Al Gilbert exams, and has attended several workshops.
Charlotte has taken on the role of becoming a teacher in 2006, teaching children aged 10-12 hip hop, tap, and jazz. She enjoys dancing because of the family environment and loves working with her students.
Heather
Williams
Heather has been dancing for 23 years and has enjoyed teaching for the last six years.
Heather loves the challenge of learning new techniques and dances. One of the many things she loves about dance is the opportunity to meet great friends. Heather is an elementary school teacher, currently teaching kindergarten.
Denise
Arseneau
Denise has enjoyed dancing for over 30 years. Of those 30, she has spent 20 in a teaching position.
Denise enjoys teaching our younger students as she builds on her full time career as a kindergarten teacher. Outside of dance she loves to cook, read and hang with her children, Meghan and Christopher.
Amanda
Jennings
Amanda has been dancing for 15 years with the last 3 as an instructor. What was once a hobby is now one of the true loves of her life. Competitions have been an essential part of her dancing career. As a soloist, and in troupes, she has been competing for 13 years. She is able to teach varying styles of dance from lyrical and cabaret to hip hop, though her favourites are tap and jazz.
Amanda is dedicated to ensuring that every time she steps onto the stage, she brings intensity and passion.
